⚠️ 5 signs that your naval grommet is no longer safe
Compartir
At first glance, many cable entry points appear to be in good condition. But time, moisture, unauthorized modifications, or improper installation can turn a sealed point into a vulnerability.
These are 5 warning signs you should check out:
- Visible cracks or fissures in the sealing surface or surrounding material.
- Color changes, persistent moisture or rust on the edges.
- Remains of putty, foam or non-certified materials used as a patch.
- New cables passed without resealing properly.
- Hardened, dried out or deformed seal that has lost elasticity or contact with the cable.
A grommet may appear static, but it's subject to vibration, heat, condensation, and tampering. If any of these five signs sound familiar, it's time to inspect or replace.
